About Seamus

Seamus O'Dowd is a native of Castlegregory, Co. Kerry and now lives in Clonakilty, Co. Cork. Graduating in 1976 from UCD with a degree in agriculture, he began his agricultural career in ariel crop spraying, before being appointed as a pig advisor with Clonaslee Co-Operative Society in Co. Laois. In 1982, he joined ACOT and worked as a general agricultural advisor in Carndonagh, Co. Donegal. Subsequently, he took up an advisory post on pig production, covering the West Cork and Kerry regions. In 1997, he transferred to a  diary advisory position based in Clonakilty, Co. Cork. Seamus retired from Teagasc in 2015.
